This is not a stock image. This is our family archive — taken in 1949. The man in the turban and the woman beside him are the generation who carried the red Bahi across the border when everything else was left behind. Both the family and the formula survived.

In Punjab, the Bahi was the ledger — a red-covered record book used for accounting and preserving knowledge. Our ancestor chose this format deliberately. She wrote the formula in Lahnda script, the Indo-Aryan language of the Punjab and Hazara regions. Every ratio, every method, every seasonal note — documented.
In the Punjab tradition, recording something in a Bahi meant it was worth preserving permanently. Our ancestor didn't write this formula in a casual notebook. She put it in a Bahi — the same format used to record the most important transactions of a household.
